New Aid Station; Water Stop Relocation for 2026

In our never-ending quest to sharpen Ironstone 100K without dulling its teeth, we’re rolling out a few course-support updates for 2026:
1 – New Aid Station (AS7: Jackson Trail)
We’re upgrading the former unmanned, water-only spot between PA-26 and the Jackson Trail trailhead to a manned water-only aid station. Why? Because it’s tough to monitor water levels when no one’s there, and that long 5–6 hour overnight stretch from Indian Steps to Little Flat Tower deserves an extra radio checkpoint for runner safety. Don’t worry—we’re not going soft. It’s still water-only, staffed by a skeleton crew (not literally… probably).
2 – Water Stop Relocation
The water stop at Gettis Ridge Rd/North Meadows Rd (Mile 54.3) is moving to the Bear Meadows Rd crossing (Mile 55.7). The old site required an hour of driving and, one year, a bonus 1.3-mile ruck with tables and full jugs thanks to a forgotten gate key. The new location sits on an existing logistics route, allowing better oversight of late-race water consumption.
These changes improve participant safety while keeping Ironstone every bit the brutal, beautiful epic you expect.
Thanks for supporting the Ironstone 100K - a member of Pennsylvania’s all-volunteer, not-for-profit, grassroots trail racing community.
