VOLUNTEERING
GENERAL VOLUNTEERS FOR IRONSTONE
Volunteering for an ultramarathon is both important and incredibly fun! These events rely heavily on the support of volunteers to ensure the safety and well-being of participants. Volunteers play various roles, from manning aid stations and providing crucial hydration and nutrition to offering encouragement and support along the course. Overall, volunteering is not only important for the smooth operation of the event but also a fantastic way to have fun, make new friends, and be part of something truly memorable.
HAM COMMUNICATIONS AT IRONSTONE
The Ironstone 100K course traverses remote, mountainous terrain with minimal cell phone coverage. To keep runners safe and logistics flowing, we depend on the Horseshoe Amateur Radio Club, led by Kevin Leer (W3XOX), to maintain reliable HAM radio communication throughout the race.
If you’re a licensed Amateur Radio Operator, we’d love to have you on one of our HAM teams stationed at aid stations or along the course. You’ll be vital for communicating updates, coordinating logistics, and helping keep everyone safe.
