Overview:
As the Volunteer Coordinator for our ultramarathon, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of our event by recruiting, training, and managing volunteers. You will be responsible for coordinating with various teams to ensure that all volunteer positions are filled and that volunteers are adequately prepared to fulfill their roles during the event.
Responsibilities:
Recruitment:
Develop and implement strategies to recruit volunteers, including outreach to local community groups, colleges/universities, and on online platforms.
Create compelling job postings and marketing to attract volunteers.
Training and Orientation:
Organize orientation sessions to provide volunteers with information about their roles, event logistics, and safety procedures.
Develop training materials and resources to ensure volunteers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
Scheduling and Placement:
Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments, ensuring that all positions are adequately filled throughout the event.
Match volunteers with roles that align with their skills, interests, and availability.
Communication and Coordination:
Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, providing ongoing support and answering questions leading up to and during the event.
Collaborate with event staff and team leaders to ensure that volunteer needs are met and that communication channels are clear.
Recognition and Appreciation:
Develop and implement strategies to recognize and appreciate volunteers for their contributions.
Collect feedback from volunteers to identify areas for improvement and implement changes for future events.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in volunteer coordination or event management is preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail.
